A LOCKWOOD gym is not punching above its weight as THREE of its fighters are now British Mixed Martial Arts Champions.

Team Quannum, based at Lockwood’s Physiques gym, saw two hopefuls scoop titles at a recent event in York.

Coach David Butlin has been training Josh Moorby, 20, of Kirkburton and George Smith, 17, of Halifax for the British World Ring Sports Association (WRSA) titles.

George won the British Welterweight Champion (77kilos) title and Josh won the WRSA British Middleweight Championship title (84 kilos).

The recent success builds on Craig Kelly’s, win in December when he was crowned WRSA British Lightweight (70 kilos) Champion.

David said: “To have three British Championship title holds at one gym is fantastic.”

David, who has taught martial arts for more than a decade, has previously coached the England team.
