A fallen tree brought traffic chaos to part of Huddersfield.

The tree crashed down on to Meltham Road, at Lockwood, forcing police to shut the busy road.

Several buses filled with passengers were held up on the road as highways engineers were called to shift the tree.

It collapsed at lunchtime off a steep bank above Meltham Road, just 50 yards from the Lockwood Viaduct.

A huge gash could be seen in the tree trunk on the banking.
