THERE are long delays this afternoon after a crash which shut the M62 this morning.
Police had to shut both carriageways of the busy motorway after a van crashed and overturned, shedding its load of Lucozade drinks across both carriageways at Outlane.
Officers and Highways Agency staff were able to re-open the westbound lanes within 20 minutes but the eastbound carriageway remained closed 30 minutes after the 11.20am crash.
It is thought the van driver escaped with minor injuries.
At 2pm two lanes of the eastbound motorway were still closed while lane three (outside lane) of the westbound was still closed off.
The westbound carriageway reopened at 2.30pm
The crashed vehicle still has to be cleared from the motorway and checks will take place on the central reservation which was struck in the incident.

If the central reservation needs to be repaired, this could cause more delays however highways officials are hopeful of fully reopening the motorway by 3pm.
