It's usually reminiscent of a tranquil day spa - but the Ings Luxury Cat Hotel has undergone a spooky make-over for Halloween!

The cattery, in Thornhill, Dewsbury, which can board 12 lucky felines, boasts four-poster beds with goose feather pillows, under floor heating, mood lighting, hand-made scratching posts, climbing walls, balconies, toys and TV - and guests can be treated to an a la carte menu, massages, bedtime stories, catnip bubbles, organic wheatgrass and extra toys and treats.

That's normal service for these pampered pets - but this week the cattery has been transformed into a haunted hotel for the creepiest night of the year.

Weekend guests can tuck into a special gourmet menu: witches cauldron of braised chicken, sea bass and lamb; bat sick salmon mouse with a sprinkle of bat dropping dreamies; skeleton fingers, turkey, beef and salmon chew sticks, all washed down with a jug of creamy zombie vomit milk.

They'll be treated to a laser light show with devils, ghouls and witches; a disco with prizes for the best dancer; trick or treat games and a prize for the best dressed cat.

Jo said: "'We are already full - some customers actually extended their stay so their loved ones could enjoy the themed weekend fun.

"I always like to put a bit of fun into our guests' stay - I celebrate birthdays with presents, disco and specially made cat cakes; Valentines Day, Easter and of course Christmas with a visit from Santa, festive movies, traditional dinner, tree and all the trimmings."

The Ings attracted worldwide attention when it opened last December, with reporters from all over the world taking an interest in the unusual cattery.

Jo said: "Our first year has been overwhelming - the success has been acknowledged by a national award for 'start up business of the year' and only this week, finalist in the Yorkshire Business Awards.

"The customer feedback has been absolutely fantastic. Owners know their cats and can see how relaxed they are, it means they can go away without the hassle and stress of worrying if they'll be okay. Owners receive update messages whilst away.

"We built our cat hotel around a place we would like to take our own cats and it appears lots of people feel the same way as we did.

"We are providing facilities, standards and a personal service cat owners require for their loved ones. It's the ultimate five star holiday for a cat!"
