LOTTERY grants worth a total of over £60,000 will help ten community groups in the Huddersfield area.

Organisations such as Marsden Tennis Club and the Almondbury Youth Action Project will receive slices of the £600,000 pie being distributed to 85 groups across Yorkshire and the Humber Region. Funding comes from the Awards for All scheme, administered by the Big Lottery Fund.

Rastrick High School was the largest beneficiary, receiving the top grant of £10,000. The Cleckheaton Folk Festival will use the £3,105 it received to extend its reach into smaller venues such as local pubs and cafes.

The other causes from the Huddersfield area receiving grants were the 59 Squadron Air Training Corps, Birkby Infants and Nursery School, Bradley C of E Infant and Nursery School, Holmfirth Camera Club, the Mosaic Association, and Re: Craft.

Vanessa White, Big Lottery Fund Head of Region for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “These groups met criteria including extending access and participation for local communities, increasing skills and creativity, and improving quality of life.

“We are proud to be able to help groups keep up their wonderful work in encouraging social inclusion, promoting learning, and bringing joy into people’s lives.”
