ROWDY yobs damaged an ambulance while paramedics were helping a 14-year-old girl unconscious through drink.

The crew was called to Lidget Street on Lindley after reports that a 14-year-old girl was seriously ill.

They found her collapsed in a bus shelter with a gang of up to 25 youths at 7.45pm last Friday.

Experienced paramedic Alan Parkinson said: "It seems she had been drinking a mix of vodka and cider and was unconscious.

"While dealing with her we have never had to face a more rowdy, intimidating and unruly set of kids.

"They failed to answer our questions properly, banged on the side of the ambulance and eventually damaged the emergency window.

"The ambulance is now off the road being repaired.

"When we asked them simply to behave, we were met with a tirade of abuse.

"We just thought parents should be aware of what's happening.

"It turned out the girl who was ill had told her parents she was going on a sleepover.

"Our advice would be to make sure you know exactly where your children are."

The gang were all aged 13 to 15 and police had to be called to disperse them.

"They showed us absolutely no respect," said Alan.
