BLOOD DONORS are being called on to roll up their sleeves this Valentine’s Day to give people the gift of life.

The National Blood Service is appealing to Huddersfield people to donate a pint of the red stuff to help keep up with the demand for 1,500 pints a week across West Yorkshire.

Donation sessions will be taking place on February 14 at Scissett First School on Wakefield Road from 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm.

Amy Lansdown-Nasson, of the National Blood Service, said: “By giving blood and saving a life at this time of year, you can help someone in hospital have more time with the people they love.

“It’s a fantastic Valentine’s present, and it won’t cost you a penny.”

Donors must be aged between 17 and 60, weigh more than 7st 12lbs and be in good health.
