A teenager amazingly escaped with slight injuries after an horrific head-on crash.
There were fears the 17-year-old driver had suffered serious injuries after the crash in Wakefield Road, Clayton West.
Paramedics called to the scene this morning arranged for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to be called in.
The helicopter landed in fields close to the busy main road and flew the injured youth to Leeds General Infirmary.
But it transpired his injuries were not as serious as first thought.
The second driver, a 27-year-old man, was taken by road ambulance to Pinderfields Hospital.
He was treated for minor injuries and allowed home later.
The incident happened on Wakefield Road in Clayton West at 7.42am this morning.
It took place between Litherop Lane and Woodhouse Lane and the stretch of road was closed by police.
They carried out accident investigations at the scene and the road was re-opened just before noon.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
