Seven pupils from Lydgate School gave a peak performance in their latest adventure.

Instead of coming top of the class, the Holmfirth youngsters stood on top of Wales as they reached the summit of its highest mountain.

The trip up Mount Snowden, which is 1,085m, was led by Judy Rowland and Ben Walker, walking up the Pyg track and assenting down the Llanberis track.

Pupils stayed for two nights at the Pen-Y-Pass youth hostel and spent the day in between taking on the challenge, enjoying brilliant weather conditions and breath-taking views from the summit.

They also enjoyed a tour around the Electric Mountain visitor centre in Llanberis.

The school is not shy of a challenge, having walked 64 miles along the Northumbrian coast in May to raise money for the school’s outdoor programme.
