DRIVERS will be hit when a busy West Yorkshire motorway intersection closes for repairs on five weekends.
Resurfacing work costing £900,000 will take place near the Lofthouse roundabout, north of Wakefield.
The roundabout forms the junction of the M62 and M1.
The first closure is from 9pm tonight until 6am on Monday.
Traffic will be diverted to nearby junctions, where there will be signed routes to take vehicles back on to the motorways.
Further closures will take place over the next four weekends.
Drivers have been warned of delays and are being advised to allow more time for their journeys.
Workers will be replacing worn road surfaces on bridges.
Highways Agency project manager Brian Dobson said: "The decision to carry out a series of weekend closures has not been taken lightly.
"We studied a number of options and concluded that this is the most effective and least disruptive way to carry out the work."
He said road surfaces on the bridges were in poor condition and needed replacing.
"We will be setting up diversions, but it is inevitable there will be some congestion," added Mr Dobson.
