Commuters on the M62 are facing long delays this afternoon after three lorries crashed near Milnrow.
Emergency crews were called to the crash on the M62 near J21 at Milnrow, just after 2pm.
Firefighters rescued one man who was trapped in the cab of his vehicle and needed emergency treatment at the scene.
Police and the air ambulance are also in attendance, and the whole motorway was closed to allow the helicopter to land.
Three lanes have been closed on the eastbound side of the carriageway, with the outside lane, which had been closed for roadworks, re-opened to ease queues.
Long delays of up to 90 minutes were reported in the area shortly before 5pm, with queues currently stretching back past Simister Island to J16 of the M60 at Pendlebury and Junction 17 on the M62.
There are also delays on the westbound stretch, caused by drivers slowing to look at the accident scene.
