A MAN had to be cut free from his car in a crash on the M62 early yesterday morning.

The incident was on the eastbound carriageway, close to Stott Hall Farm, near Scammonden.

The vehicle left the road at around 7.15am and hit a lamppost.

Three fire crews from Elland and Halifax were called and cutting equipment was used.

It took an hour for crews to get the 20-year-old man out.

He is today `poorly' at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Eastbound lanes of the stretch of motorway were closed for three hours.
