DRIVERS have been warned of two weekend shutdowns on the M62.

The Highways Agency is advising road users that the M62 in West Yorkshire will be fully closed westbound overnight this Saturday to allow the gantry for a new overhead sign to be delivered.

The westbound carriageway will be closed between Junction 24 (Ainley Top) and Junction 23 (Outlane) from 10pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.

The eastbound exit slip road at Junction 23 will also be closed between these times with delays expected.

During the closure, signed diversions will be in place. Westbound traffic will leave the motorway at Junction 24 and follow the A643, before re-joining at Junction 23. Eastbound traffic wishing to exit at Junction 23 will be diverted to Junction 24.

The M62 will also be fully closed in both directions the following weekend, from 10pm on Saturday, June 13, until 6am on Sunday, June 14, to allow the gantry to be erected at Junction 23.

The westbound carriageway will be closed between Junction 24 and Junction 23, with a diversion via the A643. The eastbound carriageway will be closed between Junction 22 (Rishworth Moor) and Junction 24, with a diversion via the A672 Sowerby Bridge and the A58 and A646 through Halifax before joining the A629 and re-joining the M62 at Junction 24.

During the closures, drivers are advised to follow the clearly-signed diversion routes and to allow extra time for their journeys.
