WORKERS at a Huddersfield textile firm were evacuated yesterday after a fire broke out in a machine.
The fire was at yarn spinners Stork Brothers, at Bay Hall Mills, Birkby, just before lunchtime.
The fire was confined to one machine. It started when friction between two pieces of metal ignited fibres.
Huddersfield firefighters were called to the fire at around 11.30am.
The machine was on the ground floor of the four-storey building.
Firefighters used special fans to clear smokelogging from the building.
Workers left the building for around half an hour until the smoke was cleared and it was made safe by firefighters.
