A MONTH-long £150,000 Highways Agency scheme to remodel the northbound exit slip road at junction 40 of the M1 near Wakefield will get under way next Monday.

The scheme involves changing the lane destinations on the slip road, renewing traffic signs, installing safety barriers and some resurfacing works.

All the work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am and the project is due to be completed before Thursday, December 20.

The northbound exit slip will be closed during the overnight works. Drivers seeking to leave at junction 40 will be sent up to junction 41 instead where they can join the southbound carriageway, travel back down the motorway and use the southbound exit slip at junction 40.
