MAKE a New Year's resolution to become more active you may find that you feel fitter, more relaxed and it can help you lose or maintain weight. It's also a good way to decrease your risk of heart disease and reduce high blood pressure.
Getting started can be difficult and one great way for people who are not used to being active is to join PALS, Practice Activity Leisure Scheme.
This is the local exercise referral scheme, which gives people the chance to try some regular activity with support from health professionals and other people on the scheme.
PALS offers many different activities including gentle, moderate activity sessions, such as chair based sessions, exercise circuits, swimming, cycling, walking and much more
It's also a great way to meet new people and have some fun. If you prefer, you can choose to follow a personalised home-based workout or individual activity programme.
Your doctor, practice nurse or health care specialist can refer you to PALS, or if you would a chat ring Kirklees Culture and Leisure Services on 01484 234095.
