MEET Holmfirth's latest resident - but he won't be here for long!

A 10ft-high sculpture of Frankenstein's monster is to create nightmares for clubbers in Glasgow.

The sculpture has been created by Holmfirth sculptor and artist Ralph Shephard at his Washpit Mills studios.

Ralph is pictured putting the finishing touches to the monster monster.

The fibreglass model will be transported north of the border next week to take pride of place in a club with a horror theme.

"It's taken a month to complete and it's been really hard work. I've worked 10 hours a day, seven days a week to get it finished," said Ralph, who lives in Holmbridge.

Ralph, although predominantly an artist, is no stranger to large sculptures.

He has previously created a 6ft Buddha, a huge telephone handset for the Eureka! children's museum in Halifax and a dinosaur sculpture. He also creates storyboards for children's television programmes.
