A HUDDERSFIELD man charged with witness intimidation in the Michael Hanley murder case has been remanded in custody.

Shane Thomas, of Longroyd Bridge, pleaded not guilty to the two charges when he appeared before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

The 23-year-old is accused of threatening behaviour towards relatives of key witnesses involved in the case.

Magistrates decided not to grant bail and remanded Thomas in custody.

He will appear before Huddersfield magistrates again on Thursday.

Michael Hanley, 23, of Harehills, Leeds, was shot in the stomach outside Sheridan's Bar, Ravensthorpe, on December 27.

* Police yesterday arrested a 21-year-old Huddersfield man on suspicion of witness intimidation.

He was being questioned at Huddersfield Police Station today.
