A MAN, was remanded in custody yesterday charged with the murder of Pc Sharon Beshenivsky.

Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court for a brief hearing.

Shah, of no fixed abode, is charged with the murder of Pc Beshenivsky, the attempted murder of her college Pc Teresa Milburn, robbery and four firearms offences on November 18 in Bradford.

Shah spoke only to confirm his name and age and to give his address as police custody.

Dressed in a black sweatshirt and black trousers, he was brought into the court in handcuffs.

The charges allege that Shah murdered Mrs Beshenivsky and attempted to murder her colleague, Mrs Milburn, outside a travel agent's in Bradford on November 18.

He is also accused of robbing an employee at the travel agency of an unknown quantity of cash.

Shah also faces four firearms offences - two offences of possession of a Mach 10 sub-machinegun and a 9mm pistol with intent to endanger life and two charges of illegal possession of those weapons.

No application for bail was made and Shah will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on December 22.
