A man was stabbed several times in a late night street attack in Huddersfield town centre.

The 39-year-old victim was on Market Walk near the Pink Cadillac boutique and its junction with King Street when he was badly injured.

The attack happened at around 4.30am yesterday and the victim suffered four stab wounds.

All the wounds are to his body but detectives confirmed yesterday morning that his life was not in danger.

He continues to be treated at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Police arrested three young men nearby who were all being questioned at Huddersfield police station by detectives from Kirklees CID.

One is 20 and the other two are 19. All come from the Deighton area and the victim lives in Huddersfield.

Det Insp Jim Griffiths from Kirklees CID said: “We have recovered two knives and are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has any information which could help the inquiry.”
