Armed police were called to a flat in Huddersfield after a man allegedly threatened to kill two women with a crossbow.

But it transpired no weapon was actually seen in the incident which happened at 6.30pm last night at flats in Swan Lane, Lockwood.

A number of police were dispatched to the scene and the West Yorkshire Police helicopter flew over the area for several minutes.

The women told police they had seen a crossbow on an earlier occasion when police were also called on July 22.
