A MAN faces charges of theft, handling stolen goods and criminal damage.

Mark Roberts, 27, was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday. He has pleaded guilty to four offences.

Magistrates were told that on July 11 at the Kingsgate Centre, Huddersfield, he entered a staff locker at the Barratts Shoes store. From there he stole a ladies’ bag and its contents, including a Yorkshire Bank cash card.

Between July 13 and July 16 Roberts, of no fixed address, then allegedly handled stolen goods – a pedal cycle belonging to Ian Parkin. On October 8, he allegedly stole copper piping valued at £30 belonging to Sainsbury’s.

Robert’s case was adjourned until November 11 to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He was remanded in custody until that date.
