A man has been arrested after a gun shot was heard.

He is now in police custody following the incident in North Street, Lockwood at around 8pm last night.

Police closed the road while they inspected the scene

Det Insp Paul Savage, of Kirklees CID, said: “We believe a gun was discharged into the air.

“No one was hurt and it is being treated as an isolated incident.

“The man will be interviewed today and no charges have been brought.”

Man robbed of £1,000 cash at gunpoint in Lockwood

The incident follows an unconnected armed robbery on the same street on Tuesday.

A male victim was approached by two men with what he believed to be a handgun, who then demanded he hand them money.

They escaped with £1,000 and a mobile phone.

No arrests have yet been made and police are still looking for witnesses to come forward.
