A MAN has been arrested over the death of a Mirfield cyclist.

Andrew Ridsdale, 43, was killed after being hit by a lorry on the A1 in Nottinghamshire on March 18.

Mr Ridsdale had been competing in a time trial event for Epsom Cycling Club when the tragedy happened.

Nottinghamshire Police said that a 42-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was interviewed and released on bail until a date in May. Inquiries are continuing.

Mr Ridsdale lived in Epsom until recently when he moved back to Mirfield to look after his mother.

The accident happened close to the end of the A634 Spital Road slip road, a mile south of Blyth services.

Officers have renewed their appeal for witnesses.
