A man  was due to appear in court today charged with the abduction of a nine-year-old girl in Huddersfield.

The child, who is related to the man, was driven more than 140 miles away from her home to Milton Keynes before she was found by police officers who had traced the car she was travelling in.

And detectives revealed technology helped them track down the suspect and the child.

Concern was raised for her welfare after she was last seen at an address in the Brackenhall area of Huddersfield at 7pm on Tuesday night.

The girl has since been reunited with her family and was being interviewed by specially-trained officers.

The man, aged 30, was brought back to West Yorkshire and held in custody until his appearance at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.
