A MAN has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting his partner and stealing from her.

The 30-year-old appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

The alleged incident took place in June 9 at the couple’s home in Batley.

The man, who has not been named to protect the identity of the woman, faces a charge of sexual touching without consent.

He also faces a charge of assault and stealing a number of items from her.

These include two gold chains, a gold ring, a mobile phone and an MP3 player.

The man denies all of the charges.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, told the Huddersfield bench that they had sufficient powers to deal with the case.

She said that the man pushed his partner on to their bed and started grabbing at her following an argument.

The man’s solicitor did not make an application for his bail.

Magistrates told him that he faces trial in the court on August 8.

However his next appearance will be on June 21 via a prison video link.
