A MAN has appeared in court accused of stealing from members of his family.

Matthew Brereton, of Church Street in Crosland Moor, was before Kirklees magistrates sitting in Huddersfield yesterday.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said that on February 4 he had gone to his family’s home in Oakes.

She said that he took an Xbox worth £200 belonging to one of his sisters and left the house in a taxi.

A few weeks later on February 25, Brereton is alleged to have stolen a Blackberry Curve mobile worth £200 belonging to another of his family members.

The 21-year-old denies the thefts.

He admitted a separate charge of obtaining cash using a stolen debit card at HSBC in Marsh on February 15.

He will stand trial for the other matters at the Huddersfield court on June 11.

His bail conditions are that he does not contact two prosecution witnesses nor go within 100 metres of Easton Place in Oakes.
