A MAN has appeared in court after allegedly arming himself with knives and threatening to kill his partner.

Kevin Dixon is then alleged to have set fire to curtains at the property of his on/off partner Toni Gledhill.

The 36-year-old appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court today (Dec 23) in custody.

He faces charges of making threats to kill, arson, criminal damage and assault.

The alleged incident took place when Dixon went to Miss Gledhill’s home in Wakefield Road, Dalton, on December 21.

Magistrates heard that the previous evening Dixon allegedly damaged the door lock to try and get in.

He is alleged to have returned later to the address and thrown a power drill at her, hitting her back.

Dixon allegedly grabbed Miss Gledhill around the throat then removed some knives from the kitchen and threatened to kill her.

Then in the bedroom he allegedly set fire to some curtains using a lighter and ignited an aerosol can.

Dixon, currently of Hall Cross Road in Lowerhouses, entered no pleas to the charges.

Magistrates sent his case to Leeds Crown Court.

Dixon will first appear there on January 20 and was remanded in custody.
