A MAN has been fined after using his car without valid insurance.

Berrice Bent, of North Street in Lockwood, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He admitted using his Ford Escort without insurance on April 19.

Bent, 45, also pleaded guilty to failing to produce his certificate of insurance.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said that police stopped Bent’s car and found there was an issue with his insurance.

He was given notice to produce his documentation at the police station.

However officers informed him that his insurance wasn’t valid.

Bent told magistrates that as far as he was aware his insurance was fine.

Magistrates banned him from driving for six months because of the existing points on his licence. They also ordered him to pay £140 fine, £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
