A MAN smashed all the windows of a car after its owner assaulted his sister, a court heard.

Graham Whitehead, 28, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday accused of criminal damage.

He was ordered to pay compensation after admitting the attack on Adrian Smith’s blue Honda Civic in the early hours of April 28.

Alex Bosman, prosecuting, said that Mr Smith is the current partner of Whitehead’s sister Toni.

On the evening of April 27 Whitehead went to the Dewsbury home of his sister and Mr Smith.

The Huddersfield bench was told that he had been drinking and wasn’t allowed into the house.

Whitehead, of Hazel Crescent in Chickenley, left but then returned at midnight and began banging on the door.

Mr Bosman said: “She (Miss Whitehead) ignored him and things went quiet.

“Then she heard something smash, she looked out of the bedroom window and saw Mr Whitehead near the vehicle.

“All of the windows had been smashed and she called police.”

Magistrates were told that Whitehead was last in court over a year ago when he was given a community order.

Simon Lindley, defending, described the incident as “foolish” on his client’s part.

He said that Whitehead’s family had been concerned about how his sister’s partner was treating her after she returned home with some injuries.

Magistrates ordered Whitehead to pay £350 compensation and £85 towards court costs.
