A MAN smashed the window of a council-owned house following an argument with his partner.

Kevin Parker, 27, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.

He admitted damaging the £350 window belonging to Kirklees Council.

Parker also pleaded guilty to damaging a cooker at the property at Briarmains Road in Batley.

District Judge David Scanlon was told that Parker and Natalie Walker had been in an on-off relationship for seven years.

During the evening of October 10 the pair were at home drinking together.

Miss Walker claimed that Parker suddenly “lost it” and used a crow bar to smash the door of the cooker.

He then left the house and threw paint at one of the windows before smashing it with a spade.

Police attended and he accepted the damage.

He claimed that the cooker belonged to him so there was nothing they could do about it.

Simon Lindley, mitigating, described the pair’s relationship as volatile. He said: “This is a destructive relationship. If a restraining order was made that would give him a reason not to go there.”

Judge Scanlon adjourned the case until November 15 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

He banned Parker, of Winrose Drive, Belle Isle, Leeds, from contacting Miss Walker or going to her house as part of his bail conditions.
