A MAN damaged his ex-partner’s windows after she refused to let him in from the cold.

Toni Steadman, of Meltham Road in Netherton, admitted criminal damage.

District Judge Marie Mallon, sitting in Huddersfield, was told the incident happened on January 20.

Clare Benson, prosecuting, said Steadman went to Natalie Milward’s Golcar home.

He wanted to be let in but she refused, telling him from a window to go away.

Steadman, 26, picked up a handful of gravel and threw it at the property.

This caused the living room and bedroom windows to crack.

Steadman said that he had been reckless in causing the damage.

Neil Murphy, mitigating, said the couple had been in a relationship for eight years.

He said that this had been very much up and down but the couple continued to spend time together.

Mr Murphy said that on the day his client had wanted Miss Millward’s help.

He said: “He’s had no electricity at home, he was freezing.

“In frustration and when she’s not let him in, he’s thrown some pebbles to attract her attention.”

The offence also put Steadman in breach of a conditional discharge, made by the court last November for a shop theft.

Judge Mallon gave him an eight-week curfew, which will be electronically monitored.

She also ordered him to pay £300 compensation for the damaged windows.
