A man in his 30s remained in custody today after a gun was fired in Crosland Moor.

The 31-year-old was arrested in Dewsbury on Tuesday evening after the shot on Moor End Road at around 5pm.

Suspects fled the scene in a silver VW Golf in the Dewsbury direction, with an arrest later made when a man was caught running from a vehicle near the junction of Headfield Road and Lock Street.

Officers seized the vehicle and are now investigating to see whether it had been used in the earlier incident.

The same evening, police cordoned off an area around The Station Hotel in Dewsbury town centre, which a spokesman confirmed was in relation to the earlier firearms incident.
