A MAN had to be cut from his car after a crash at a crossroads.

A Toyota Avensis and a Renault Clio were involved in the smash at Victoria crossroads on Sheffield Road at Hepworth at 7.25pm on Sunday.

The force of the impact sent the Toyota into the pub where it hit and badly damaged a porch.

The Toyota driver was trapped in the wreckage but was conscious when the emergency services arrived.

The man in his 30s had suffered collarbone injuries.

Firefighters sliced the roof off and lifted him out onto a special support board into an ambulance and he was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

He was not thought to be seriously hurt.

The other driver was described as “walking wounded.’’

Fire crews attended from Holmfirth, Skelmanthorpe and Huddersfield.
