A motorist has died following a crash with a car in Southowram.

Police said a 60-year-old man died at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary following a collision in Brookfoot Lane at 8.35am on Saturday morning, which saw the road closed for over five hours.

The incident happened when the man, who was driving a blue Nissan Note, collided with a black Range Rover Sport after coming out of his drive.

It is understood that the crash may have happened after he had a suspected stroke and collapsed at the wheel.

West Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident and a post-mortem is due to be carried out.
