A MAN was seriously hurt in a two-car smash.

The man in his 60s was injured in the crash in Brighouse at 7.30pm on Friday.

He was a passenger in one of the cars in the accident near the roundabout at Huddersfield Road.

Fire crews from Brighouse, Elland and Huddersfield were called.

The passenger in the Honda Accord was trapped when the vehicle landed on its side. Firefighters had to cut off a door to free him.

He suffered suspected broken ribs and abdominal injuries. He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The drivers were uninjured.

Part of the road was closed following the accident, which is being investigated by police.
