A robber jumped over a counter at a Halifax bookies before making off with the till.

The suspect struck at the Coral’s betting shop on Clare Road and pushed a female staff member out of the way before grabbing the till.

The woman received slight injuries in the raid which happened at 5.50pm on Thursday.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9in tall and was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie. He fled in the direction of Halifax town centre.

Det Sgt Damon Walker, of Calderdale CID, said: “Fortunately, the victim was not seriously injured however this has been a frightening experience.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in and around the area near Clare Road on Thursday evening and who may have seen a man matching the description acting suspiciously, or running away from the scene to get in touch.”

Enquiries into the robbery are currently ongoing.
