A man was left with a suspected broken ankle and leg after being attacked on Saturday night.

Det Insp Seth Robinson of Kirklees CID said the incident occurred at 10pm on New North Road near the town centre.

The 54 year old man was walking in the road when he was attacked.

Det Insp Robinson said: “A 35-year-old woman asked him to give her his mobile phone.

“But when he resisted a 40-year-old man assaulted him.

“The victim who was worse for wear from drink was initially taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

“He was then transferred to Bradford Royal Infimary.

“The two suspects have been arrested are in custody.

“Any witnesses to the incident should get in touch with West Yorkshire Police via 101.”
