A MAN released by police probing a shooting in Brighouse has been re-arrested.

The 52-year-old victim was shot in the stomach close to the railway viaduct in the Bridge End area of Brighouse at the bottom of Rastrick shortly after 8.30pm on Tuesday.

Four men were arrested and three later released on police bail.

Police confirmed one of those released was back in custody today being quizzed about the shooting.

A spokesman said: "We are now questioning two men about this incident."

The victim managed to stagger to a nearby taxi office for help.

He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where his condition continues to be `stable and not life-threatening'.
