A member of staff at Huddersfield University was rescued by firefighters after the lift jammed on Sunday night.
A Huddersfield fire crew used emergency winding equipment when they were called out at 8pm.
A firefighter said: “The lift was trapped between first and second floor but we managed to raise the carriage up the second floor and then forced our way in.
“It took half an hour. The man was OK. He wasn’t stressed.”
