A man had his phone stolen in a knifepoint robbery.

The victim was walking along Queens Mill Road in Newsome when he was approached by two muggers shortly after 11.20pm on Tuesday.

One grabbed him from behind and pulled him down to the floor while the other, who is believed to have been carrying a knife, demanded money from the victim and took his mobile phone.

The suspect, who made the demands, is an asian man in his mid to late 20s, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, and slim. He wore dark clothes and his head and face were covered with a scarf.

The robbery happened not far from the smouldering blaze at the former Hunter Group tip in Lockwood .
