A masked gunman threatened a man on his doorstep in Thornhill Lees, Dewsbury last night.

The incident happened when the occupant opened the back door of his home on Slaithwaite Road at 9.55pm.

Seconds earlier he had noticed five men through the kitchen window and opened the back door to be confronted by the gang.

He was threatened and demands were made, before one of the men produced a black handgun.

The victim fled through the house and out of the front door to escape.

The men also fled in a black hatchback car.

Det Insp Mark Walker, of Kirklees CID, said: “Enquiries are ongoing. We would appeal for anyone who saw the group of males around this area, or a black hatchback car in the area to contact us.

“No shots were fired.”

The suspect who produced the firearm is described as male, aged 20 to 25, average build, with dark stubble. He was wearing a black balaclava.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
