Masked men carried out a terror attack on a woman in her own home.

The thugs struck in the early hours in Holmbridge, as the woman was home alone.

Now police are appealing for information after she was confronted by burglars in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 31-year-old victim was woken shortly after 1am by the sound of people breaking into her property in Holm Close. She phoned the police but while she was on the phone, a brick was thrown through the window, hitting her and causing slight injuries.

At least three people entered the address and started searching the property. On realising that the victim was on the phone to the police, the offenders left with a purse, bank cards and make up.

One of the thugs is described as a mixed race man, around 20-years-old, with a covering over the bottom of his face. He was described as speaking with a local accent. Another attacker was described as a black male who was wearing a ‘V For Vendetta’ mask.

Det Con Peter Usher, of Kirklees District CID, said: “Understandably, the victim is extremely upset and shocked by this offence.

“Any burglary is an invasion of privacy but to be woken and confronted by burglars in the act is a particularly distressing experience and we are ensuring that the victim is appropriately supported at this time.

“I would stress that offences of this nature are extremely rare. We have been conducting extensive enquiries in the local area and are doing all we can to identify those responsible.

“As part of our ongoing enquiries, we would like to hear from anyone who has any information which could assist us in our investigation. Information can be passed either to Kirklees District CID directly via 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
