POLICE have arrested a man in connection with the death of Meltham mugging victim Connie Mitchell.

The 45-year-old man, from Bradford, is Ian Hemmings.

He was named last month by police probing the tragic death of the 90-year-old widow as the man they wanted to question.

A police spokesman said: "Police have arrested a 45-year-old man from Bradford in connection with this incident.

"He was arrested in Chichester, West Sussex yesterday morning and has been brought back to West Yorkshire for questioning.

"He is now in custody in Huddersfield and will be questioned later today."

Mrs Mitchell suffered serious head injuries when a man in a car reversed up to her in Coniston Road on February 27 and snatched her bag, which contained no more than £20.
