JACK SAVORETTI: Dr FrankensteinSavoretti started out as a poet and takes his natural wordsmith skill into his spellbinding delivery. A strolling troubadour song that’ll melt the hardest of hearts.

SILVERSUN PICKUPS: Well Thought Out TwinklesPseudo psychedelic glam yarnings all wrapped up in pure melodic power. The fuzzy voice resonates the spirit of rock n’ roll. Not sure how well thought out the title is though.

BWO: Chariots Of FireNothing to do with the early 80s film classic about men running around a track in baggy shorts. This is Euro disco that’s well up for a good time – thankfully in the rest of Europe. BWO stands for Bodies Without Organs and the interest in this lasts about as long as a body without an organ.

BRIAN HOUSTON: Days Of Pearly SpencerA rolling, folky, husky-voice rendition of the 60s classic that shows how hard it is to usurp an original.

THE ENEMY: We’ll Live And Die In These TownsA band that proves Billy Bragg and punk were worthwhile. The spirit from the era pours forth from tracks such as the rousing top 10 single Away From Here. Along the way there’s fiery guitar flashes, pogo percussion energy and at least one with the OMD melodic footprint stamped across it. Songs that follow the album’s theme about battling apathy and striving for a better life. They rarely quieten down.

THE THRILLS: TeenagerThe five-strong Irish group is fronted by Conor Deasy who has a weird shaky edge to his voice. The underlying theme delves into the agony and ecstasy of adolesence and you get to feel a sense of renewal and hope running through it. The songs themselves are fragility and charm on the surface, with more of a twist and turn underneath.

VARIOUS: My SongsDubbed 40 feelgood anthems yet features Rehab by Amy Winehouse and the funeral dirge of Black’s dreadful Wonderful Life. On the bright side there’s Shine by Take That, You Give Me Something by James Morrison, Life Is A Rollercoaster by Keane, Starz In Their Eyes by Just Jack and Catch You by Sophie Ellis Bextor.
