HUDDERSFIELD photographer Dave Cowan runs the London Marathon tomorrow - and he aims to take arty photos on the way!

The 36-year-old of Yews Hill Road, Lockwood, will don his superhero costume to raise money for Whizz-Kidz, the charity that helps children in wheelchairs.

He's pictured here, near his home, by the Examiner's Paul Welch who used a Canon EOS.

Dave says: "My cape is actually a Greek flag given to me by a Greek student at Huddersfield University.

"Marathons, of course, started out in Greece and the blue and white stripes also happen to be Town's colours so everything ties in nicely.

"I'm taking my camera and I'm hoping to see Nell McAndrew, though knowing my luck I'll only spot Jeffrey Archer!"

Dave has been training hard though he admits: "I'm more of a cricketer than a runner.

"But the marathon is a great spectacle, I've always loved to watch it on TV.

"I'm going to struggle and it'll be fun dressed up as a superhero.

"But kids who have to cope with illness and disability day in day out are the real superheroes and that's who I want to help."

Dave is hoping to raise £1,500. Go to www.davidjcowan.com to donate or call Dave on 07879 460327.

Photographs from the marathon will be on Dave's website after the event.
