A HUDDERSFIELD man has landed a top TV post in the Middle East.

Marc Conneely has been appointed vice-president for advertising sales and new business development at Gulf DTH, after five years with BSkyB as head of pay-per-view events.

Mr Conneely has joined a company which owns and operates the Showtime network, the leading digital pay-television platform for the Middle East and North Africa.

He was born in Fartown and attended All Saints RC School at Bradley Bar.

His career to date has included eight years at MTV Networks Europe, where he was a vice-president, and being general manager of MTV Hong Kong.

He was also responsible for the expansion of MTV's sponsorship business throughout most of Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The Showtime network broadcasts 50 channels of entertainment from the NileSat satellite and has regional customer service call centres in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco.

Mr Conneely's father still lives near Fartown and his eldest brother in Cowcliffe.
