SCOUTS from the Huddersfield South West branch marched through the town centre on Sunday to commemorate St George's Day.

They marched from the Town Hall to the Parish Church and were led by Golcar Band. More than 300 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts took part.

A service was held at the church and taken by the Rev Catherine Ogle.

District commissioner Philip Hayhurst said it was important the Scouts celebrated the day.

"We have a long tradition of marking St George's Day in this way - we have been doing it for about 90 years," he said.

"Our parade has always been very well attended and it is great to get everyone together."
