Missing woman Maria Harris has been found.

The 66-year-old was found in Leeds at just before 1am today.

Maria, who suffers with dementia, went missing from an address in the Moldgreen/Dalton area at around 7am on Tuesday.

Her disappearance led police to contact the media for help in finding her.

The story on the Examiner's Facebook page about her disappearance was shared more than 1,000 times and appeared in the feed of almost 100,000 people.

Officers also carried out house-to-house enquiries, alerted local bus drivers and scoured CCTV in and around Huddersfield town centre.

At one point the West Yorkshire Police helicopter also lent a hand in the search for her.

Due to her condition, police were desperate to find her. Det Sgt Mark Taylor from Huddersfield District CID told the Examiner yesterday evening: "It is now a considerable period of time seen she has been seen and given her medical condition and the bad weather tonight we are urging anyone who may have seen her to come forward."

After she was found, relative Kathryn Harris told users on the Examiner's Facebook page: "We have had a call to say she has been found safe. Thank you all again for sharing this info & your kind wishes. x"
