‘Fifty Shades of Greyhound’ is not a conventional campaign slogan.

But the attention-grabbing title is one that Marsden charity shop Tia Greyhound Rescue hopes will capture the hearts of lovers of the animal kind this spring.

Pictures of the sweethearts looking for new homes are now covering the charity’s Brougham Road shop window, in a bid to help bring down the number of those in its Hebden Bridge kennel, which is said was ‘full beyond belief’.

Shop manager Jane Frost, who is behind the drive, also launched it to help ease pressure on the charity, which is to embark upon a massive kennel move to Doncaster this Spring so that it can rescue even more dogs.

Jane, said: “I was fully aware of how desperate the situation is getting at our kennels because of the number of dogs we have coming in and due to the fact that we have a move to new kennel premises coming on.

“They’re now just full beyond belief.

“I was looking for an idea to promote re-homing and wanted to do something a bit different from the other promotional days we’ve had.

“In truth we have way over 50 dogs in our kennels needing re-homing most of the time.

“I contacted the lady who prints photos and information for Tia Greyhound and she thought it was such a good idea that she has run it out to the other Tia shops in the area too.”

Jane hopes that as many greyhounds as possible can be re-homed before the move, which will allow them to take in dogs and other animals such as horses from across Yorkshire.

She is also looking for volunteers to help them foster the animals during the process.

Jane said: “The move will enable us to rescue more dogs and animals and give them the loving care they deserve to have.

“Its going to be a massive undertaking, rather a Noah’s Ark sort of job, to move all of our rescued animals, which include horses, donkeys, sheep and even pigeons as well as the dogs.

“We need foster carers who can take some of our dogs whilst the new kennel block is being built and extra donations and cash to help with the whole move.

“We also need extra pairs of hands to physically help with the enormous amount of equipment we have to relocate.”
